Where It All Began

As a child, my mom loved the scent of lilacs. We had lilac bushes blooming in front of our house, and every spring their fragrance drifted through the yard. Years later, after moving in with her husband, her neighbor had an entire row of lilacs planted just outside one of her windows. Anytime she wanted a cool cross-breeze, she had no choice but to open those windows. Before long, she jokingly told me she'd grown to hate the smell of lilacs because it was all she could smell. I always thought that was hilarious—that someone who once loved lilacs couldn't escape them.

After she passed away, I hadn't thought about that conversation in years. Then one day, while walking through a store, I picked up a lilac-scented candle. The moment I smelled it, I was instantly transported back to that memory. I could hear her voice, picture her laughing as she told the story, and before I knew it, I was laughing too.

It was the first time I'd laughed while thinking about my mom since she passed.

In that moment, I realized something I'll never forget: a scent is incredibly powerful. It doesn't just fill a room—it brings memories back to life. Sometimes it reminds us of a place. Sometimes it reminds us of a person. And sometimes, when we need it most, it gives us a chance to smile again.

That moment became the inspiration behind White Oak Ambience Candle Co. Every candle we create is crafted with the hope that it does more than scent your home. We hope it creates a feeling, sparks a memory, and becomes part of the moments you'll carry with you for years to come.

Moment that Stays with You

That moment in the candle shop didn’t take the grief away.
But it reminded me of something I didn’t realize I needed —that the smallest things can bring you back to something meaningful.

-A scent.
-A memory.
-A feeling you thought was gone.

White Oak Ambience was built from that realization.

The realization not just to create candles — but to create moments.

-Moments that help you slow down.
-Moments that help you reconnect.
-Moments that let you feel something again, even on the hardest days.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one small moment to change how everything feels.
